 Norman Friedman (ur. 1946) to amerykański pisarz i analityk, znawca strategii i historii wojskowości, znany na całym świecie. Napisał ponad 40 książek i liczne artykuły na temat marynarki wojennej i innych zagadnień wojskowych, pracował dla Marynarki Wojennej i Korpusu Piechoty Morskiej Stanów Zjednoczonych, a także występował w programach telewizyjnych, w tym PBS, Discovery Channel, C-SPAN i National Geographic. |
Friedman uzyskał tytuł licencjata i doktora na Uniwersytecie Columbia w dziedzinie fizyki teoretycznej, kończąc w 1974 roku rozprawę "dditional Scattering of Bloch Electrons by Simultaneous Imputity and Lattice Interaction". W latach 1973–1984 pracował w Instytucie Hudsona, gdzie został zastępcą dyrektora ds. bezpieczeństwa narodowego. Następnie pracował dla Marynarki Wojennej Stanów Zjednoczonych jako wewnętrzny konsultant. Od 2002 do 2004 r. służył jako futurolog w Korpusie Piechoty Morskiej Stanów Zjednoczonych. Pełnił funkcję profesora wizytującego badań operacyjnych w University College na Uniwersytecie Londyńskim. Artykuły Friedmana ukazywały się w ogromnej liczbie magazynów, m.in.
